Greystoke handbell group was founded in 2003 when the original team
borrowed a set of bells from the Handbell Ringers of Great Britain
organisation. They began in a very small way but enthusiastically set
about fund raising to buy their own set of bells , this is no mean feat as
the bells are very expensive as they are individually made in a foundry,
to buy our present set of bells would be in the region of £15,000.
The team has developed its skills over the years and now plays mostly
using musical notation ,although we still have books of carols which
uses numbers instead. The members come from not only Greystoke but
surrounding villages. We are always looking for new members to swell
our ranks ,reading music is not essential but makes playing easier in the
beginning.

We have played in various venues ,festivals, village events and earlier in
the life of the team at care homes etc.
Our programme
We will be playing a variety of carols with which members may wish to
sing along .We will also be playing selection of Christmas music, to
include such favourites as Walking in the Air, carol of the bells, and
many more. There could also be an opportunity to “Have a go” if the
members feel that is something they would like to do.
