Marion Wilson SBA Fellow

As a child I always had a love of painting and drawing, but a career in the Arts was not open to me at that time. After leaving school I started work as a Cartographical Draughtswoman with the Ordnance Survey where there was little room for expressing my love of art. Everything was very regimented, with attention to detail imperative. After retirement I discovered the joy of using my draughting skill in the art of Botanical Illustration.
During the lecture I will explain my unexpected transition into a teacher of Botanical Art. My journey through a diploma at the Society of Botanical Art, and the processes involved in reproducing an accurate depiction of the plant that I see before me. I hope this will give you an insight into the complex process of Botanical Illustration.
