Red Squirrels talk review
“Good talk, good food, good afternoon!”

On the 12th September the Ladies Luncheon Group met for the first time since the summer break. There was a lot of news to catch up on and the room soon ‘hummed’ with the sound of happy voices! Ian Jack’s talk about ‘Red Squirrels’ was fascinating. These delightful creatures are still in decline and threatened by the stronger grey squirrels which carry the ‘squirrel pox’ virus. This virus is harmless to grey squirrels but deadly to the ‘reds’.

Ian’s message was loud and clear: ‘Don’t feed grey squirrels’.Report any sightings so that they can be culled. Until a vaccine is available this is the best way to ensure that their numbers are reduced so that the red squirrels are have the chance to once again thrive in our woodland habitats’.
